Hey there, I’m Joshua, and welcome to the NCF Weekly newsletter where we share actionable guidance on building a business as a non-technical founder.

Everyone in the no-code space is talking about AI agents. Half the tools claiming to build them are either glorified Zaps with a chatbot bolted on, or they're technically capable but built for developers who want to write YAML at midnight.
This is a practical rundown of 4 of the tools that actually work for non-technical founders -- what each one is good for, where it falls short, and who should use it.
THIS WEEK’S SPONSOR
Describe the task. AI starts it. A human expert finishes it.
Real work piles up faster than anyone can do it. Some tasks are too small to hire for, some are too complex to trust to AI alone. Tendem closes the gap: describe the task, AI does the heavy lifting, a vetted human expert finishes it — 4–36 hours, from $3 per task, priced upfront before you approve.
Use code NOCODE10 for $50 off your first task.
Lindy
Lindy pitches itself as your "AI employee," and for a specific set of tasks, that framing holds up. It handles inbox management, meeting scheduling, lead qualification, and follow-ups -- the kind of work that eats founder time without requiring much judgment.
Setup is fast. You describe what you want in plain English and the agent runs. There's no visual canvas to wrestle with. The block-based interface lets you create multi-step workflows without code, and the pre-built templates get you to something working quickly.
The pricing starts at $49.99/month, but watch the credits. Complex workflows burn through your allowance faster than you'd expect -- a lead generation sequence involving a knowledge base search, a qualification email, and a follow-up call can deplete a Pro plan allowance in roughly 18 leads. Test on low volume before scaling.
Best for: founders who want agents that run continuously across email, calendar, and CRM without building anything from scratch.
Gumloop
Gumloop is the visual canvas option. Its multi-agent orchestration interface is genuinely impressive, and a single subscription gets you access to all major AI models without juggling multiple API keys.
It's a better fit for data-heavy workflows -- scraping, enrichment, document processing -- than for the "always-on assistant" style of automation Lindy does well. The visual builder is flexible and the AI nodes let you automate complex tasks that basic automation tools can't handle, but that same flexibility creates friction. There's a learning curve, and credit-based pricing can get expensive if you run large or frequent workflows.
Paid plans start at $37/month for 10,000 credits, though understanding what a credit costs you per workflow takes some upfront testing.
Best for: founders comfortable building systems from scratch who want precise control over how their agents work.
Relevance AI
Relevance is the most powerful of the three, and the most demanding. It's a low-code AI workforce platform for building custom agents across sales, marketing, operations, and support -- the flexibility is real, but it requires genuine technical investment. This is a build-your-own platform, not a plug-and-play solution.
Where it shines is multi-agent setups. If you want one agent to research a prospect, another to draft an email, and a third to update your CRM -- all triggered automatically -- Relevance handles that logic well. The free plan gives you 100 credits per day, enough to build your first agent and see if the platform clicks before spending anything.
The Pro plan runs $19/month for solo builders, which makes it accessible, but credits go faster than expected once workflows get more advanced -- every extra step and every additional agent in a chain increases the cost per run.
Best for: founders willing to spend time on setup in exchange for more sophisticated multi-agent workflows.
n8n
n8n sits on the edge of no-code. The visual builder is real, but the tool rewards people who think in systems. It lets you build agents that browse the web, draft emails, query databases, and take actions in external apps -- all through a visual interface.
The reason it appears on this list: it's the only option here with a genuinely free self-hosted tier. It's popular with technical users partly because it can be self-hosted, giving full control over data and automations without vendor lock-in. If you're building something that touches sensitive data, or you just don't want to be at the mercy of another SaaS pricing change, that matters.
The trade-off is complexity. n8n supports AI, but it feels more like "bring your own agent logic" than a built-in agent system. You'll need to know what you want to build before you start.
A good tip though. Claude can tell you the nodes you need and even give you a file to import to add the nodes automatically.
Best for: technical-leaning founders who want maximum control and don't mind doing the configuration work upfront.
Which one should you start with?
If you've never built an agent before, start with Lindy or Relevance AI's free plan. Both get you to a working agent quickly without a steep learning curve. Gumloop is worth it once you have a specific data workflow in mind. n8n makes sense if you're already comfortable with automation logic and want the control that comes with self-hosting.
The agent category is moving fast. Most of these tools have changed their pricing and features significantly in the past six months alone. Whatever you try, test it on a real task you actually need done -- that'll tell you more than any comparison article will.
What are you trying to automate? Happy to dig into specifics in the comments.
