Hey there, I’m Joshua, and welcome to the NCF Weekly newsletter where we share actionable guidance on building a business as a non-technical founder.

Gumloop is an AI Agent builder that lets you build workflows where AI makes decisions and then things happen automatically. A new lead comes in, an AI agent researches them, scores them, drafts an outreach email, and drops it in your inbox. A YouTube video goes live, an agent pulls the transcript, generates content ideas, and writes a LinkedIn post. All without you touching it.

If you're selling anything, you need a CRM. But most CRMs are built for large sales teams, not founders doing everything themselves. Pipedrive takes the opposite approach: a visual, drag-and-drop pipeline where every deal has a next action, so nothing gets forgotten. It connects with 400+ tools, and the AI features are practical, handling things like email drafting and deal prioritisation. Plans start at $14/month per seat. Worth a look if spreadsheets are still your CRM. Tiny Empires readers get an extended trial and 20% off their first year.
Agents vs flows: the mental model that matters

If you've been confused by the term "AI agent," Gumloop's framework makes the distinction clearer than most explanations I've seen.
Agents are thinkers. You give them a role, instructions, and access to information. They review, classify, write, and make decisions. Think of them as a custom GPT with a specific job.
Flows are doers. They're step-by-step automations triggered by an event: a new email, a form submission, a schedule. Flows move data, send messages, update spreadsheets, and trigger other tools.
The useful part is combining them. An agent can sit inside a flow as one step in a larger process. So you might have a flow that triggers when you publish a YouTube video, pulls the transcript, passes it to an AI agent that generates content ideas, then hands those ideas to another agent that writes a LinkedIn post, and outputs everything to a Google Doc.
That's a real example you can build on the platform. Each step is a "node" on a visual canvas. You connect them, configure them, and run the whole thing.
What you can actually build with it

A few practical examples for the kind of work NCF members do:
Content repurposing. Feed in a blog post or video transcript. An AI agent analyses it and generates angles for social posts, email content, or lead magnets. The flow handles the routing and output.
Lead research. Connect your CRM or a spreadsheet of leads. An agent enriches each contact with web research, scores them, and drafts personalized outreach. The flow manages the batch processing and sends output to your inbox or Slack.
Customer support triage. Connect a tool like Zendesk or your support inbox. An agent categorizes tickets by priority and drafts responses. The flow routes everything to the right place.
Competitor monitoring. Set up a flow that scrapes competitor sites on a schedule, passes the data to an agent for analysis, and sends you a weekly summary.
The conversational builder

One feature worth highlighting: you can build flows by describing them in plain English. Gumloop has a built-in assistant that generates your workflow from a prompt. You say something like "I want a flow that takes a YouTube URL, extracts the transcript, generates LinkedIn post ideas, and saves them to a Google Doc," and it builds the nodes for you.
It won't get everything perfect. You'll need to review the output, swap in your own agents where you want more control, and connect your accounts. But it removes the blank-canvas problem that stops a lot of people from starting.
There's also a template library if you'd rather start from something pre-built and modify it.

Pricing and the credit question

Gumloop uses a credit-based system, which is the main thing to watch out for.
The free plan gives you enough credits to test the platform and run a few workflows. The paid plan starts at $37 per month and includes more credits, API access, and the ability to bring your own API keys (which cuts costs significantly on AI-heavy workflows).
Credits are consumed per node. A basic action like reading a spreadsheet costs almost nothing. An advanced AI call using GPT-4 or Claude costs around 20 credits. If you're running batch operations, like enriching 100 contacts, costs multiply quickly. One reviewer reported burning through 6,000 credits on a single enrichment run.
The bring-your-own-API-key option is worth paying attention to. If you already have an OpenAI or Anthropic API key, you can reduce AI node costs from 20 credits to 1 credit per call. For anyone running AI-heavy workflows regularly, that changes the economics considerably.
Who this is and isn't for
Gumloop makes sense if you're building repeatable processes that combine AI reasoning with action. Content pipelines, lead workflows, data processing, support automation. If the task involves "look at this, decide something, then do something with the result," Gumloop can probably handle it.
It's less useful if you just need simple app-to-app connections. "When I get an email, add it to a spreadsheet" is still easier in Zapier or Make. Gumloop is built for workflows where AI does meaningful work in the middle, not just passes data between apps.
There is a learning curve. The visual builder is intuitive once you understand the agent/flow distinction, but building your first real workflow takes experimentation. Budget a few hours to get comfortable, and expect to burn through your free credits while testing.
